How to check the requirement and confirm the reset

Two documented exceptions to blind chaining:

1. If you are already really close to the next rebirth requirement, buying another expensive upgrade may actually slow you down — sometimes it is better to save the remaining cash and rebirth first.

Balancing rebirths against rod savings

Rebirths and rod savings interact in both directions. One creator's rule for rods: wait until your rebirth's price is around the same price — the same order of magnitude — as the rod you want to upgrade to, because rebirth multipliers compound income, so a rebirth price with the same number of zeros as the rod means the purchase is close.
